Legendary India cricketer Virender Sehwag and his wife Aarti Ahlawat who have been married for 20 years are reportedly separating. The two tied the knot in 2004 in a grand ceremony hosted at the residence of former finance minster Arun Jaitley.
According to a report by the Hindustan Times, the couple have unfollowed each other on Instagram and sources close to the family suggest that they have been living separately for several months. Divorce is likely on the cards, as per the report.
The couple have two sons Aryavir, born in 2007 and Vedant born in 2010.
The cricketer is known for his aggressive batting on the field. He has played 104 Tests and 251 ODIs. Despite being married for 20 years, recent incidents indicate a growing divide. However according to the report sources claim that their relationship has been on the rocks for a while.
The speculation intensified when Sehwag posted pictures from his Diwali celebrations which only included his son and mother, while his wife Aarti was not seen in the picture.
Sehwag recently also visited the Vishwa Nagayakshi Temple in Palakkad, Kerala, and shared images of the trip on Instagram. Again, Aarti was absent from the post.
The cricketer has not made any official statement yet. However, Sehwag's public distancing from his wife has become a topic of discussion among his fans.
Aarti Ahlawat a native of Delhi, born on December 16, 1980, is the daughter of well-known lawyer Suraj Singh Ahlawat. She did her schooling at Lady Irwin Secondary School and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. She went on to do her diploma in Computer Science from Maitreyi College, Delhi University.
Sehwag served as a member of the Anti-Doping Appeal Panel of the National Anti-Doping Agency. He has always kept his personal life private.
