The footage of a teenage vlogger from Haryana perched on the roof of a moving car, blatantly disregarding traffic rules and claiming his 'policeman father', would 'protect him', has gone viral. Since then, several netizens have weighed in on the video, criticising the youth for endangering both his life and those around him with his stunt in moving traffic.
Rakshit Beniwal, the teen in the stunt video, is a vlogger who posted the video for his 41,000 Instagram followers and 70,000 subscribers on YouTube. Beniwal can be seen sitting on the roof of a moving Mahindra Thar SUV as it drives down a busy road.
The video then transitions to show his father, dressed in a police uniform. "Tu maar mai dekh lunga, ye kehne vaale papa hai mere [You hit, I'll handle, I have a father who says this]," read the caption for the video.
The video has garnered over four million views since it was first shared on Instagram over week ago. Beniwal's Instagram has similar videos of him doing dangerous stunts and boasting that his father is in the police and will get him out of trouble.
The video, shared across multiple platforms, has sparked debate on the abuse of power and privilege. An entrepreneur based in Pune, Chirag Barjatya, reposted the video, expressing his concerns in a caption: "What’s happening in Haryana? A kid is sitting on a Thar (obviously) and saying his dad who is a policeman will save him? Save him from what? High time, Mahindra should start seizing such people and cars."
Netizens aptly pointed out the recklessness and risk not just to Beniwal but other people on the road. One comment read, "It’s irresponsible and sends a dangerous message, especially considering the father's position as a policeman." Another said, "A lack of responsibility and respect for law and safety—this video should be taken down."
One user tagging the Income Tax of India commented, “@IncomeTaxIndia should look into source of wealth and police should book this police for such acts.. high time we make our country law abiding foe [for] everyone."
Other comments on the post also called for the vehicle manufacturer, Mahindra, to take action against this reckless act and seize the vehicle.
