Three young Canadian men in the Lansdowne Place Mall , Peterborough, Ontario were caught on camera harassing an Indian couple with racial abuse. One of the accused has been arrested, according to NDTV.

The incident took pace on July 29, 2025 when a group of three young men inside a pickup truck verbally attacked an Indian couple.

The perpetrators mocked the victim's accent, uttered racial slurs and issued death threats.

The video showed the young Canadian men telling the Indian couple to "go back to your country" and continued abusing with names like Big nose" and "F*** immigrant," with one threatening, "Do you want me to get out of the car and f***ing kill you?"

“Anybody who has seen the video in this case will understand that type of behaviour is not acceptable in our community, nor any community. I would like to thank everyone who came forward with information in connection with this incident. Clearly this is not the standard of acceptable behaviour in ourcity. We encourage residents to continue to report hate bias incidents/crimes that take place in our community. Reporting these incidents to police is crucial to ensuring we have the information needed to investigate and pursue charges when appropriate. We are committed to keeping our community safe foreveryone who lives, works, or visits here.” the report quoted Chief Stuart Betts, Peterborough Police Service as saying.

The incident raised significant concern of growing hostility toward Indian immigrants in Canada.
