A 'staggering' 2,277 companies have shifted their registered offices from West Bengal to other states between 2019 and 2024, BJP's Amit Malviya flagged, sharing an official document from the Rajya Sabha.
Of these, 39 were listed companies.

"Here is Mamata Banerjee’s report card on corporate exodus from West Bengal and what a massive disaster she is, as a Chief Minister," Malviya said, adding "This is a concerning trend, which underlines the grim state of lack of jobs, trade and industrial growth in West Bengal."
The Union Ministry of Corporate Affairs said this in the Rajya Sabha in response to a question by MP Shamik Bhattacharya.
He had asked if the TMC government had identified the reasons for these companies shifting and if they were doing anything to retain and attract businesses. The response was that companies had sought a move due to 'administrative, operational, convenience, cost effectiveness for better control'.
BJP's Bhattacharya also raised the issue of illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya migrants squatting on the north side of the Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics (SINP) in Kolkata.
"It is a serious security threat," he said, adding four police complaints have been made but no action has been taken.
Amid protests from TMC MPs, he alleged that the state government was welcoming Rohingya refugees. "Internal security of West Bengal is under threat because of the callous attitude of the state government."
