Woman anti-nuke activist swoons at fast venue

A woman activist, who was part of a 15 member group observing an indefinite fast demanding scrapping of Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant, was hospitalised on Sunday after she swooned on the seventh day of their stir against commissioning of the project.

Officials said the 40-year-old woman swooned at the fast venue at Idinthakarai and had to be hospitalised.

The agitators include People’s Movement Against Nuclear Energy coordinator S P Udayakumar, spearheading the protest against the project.

Protestors at the venue said they expect the KNPP issue to be raised in the Tamil Nadu Assembly tomorrow by Radhapuram MLA Michael Royappan and reiterated that they would continue the fast until a solution is found. Meanwhile,the district administration imposed prohibitory orders in the entire Radhapuram taluk, which encompasses Idinthakarai and Kudankulam.
