The coalition which includes about 30 women's organisations from across the country, will stage a demonstration in the national capital on Thursday, said Shoba Vijendra, chairperson of 'Sampurna', the NGO leading the movement.

Sumitra Mahajan, Member of Parliament and former women and child development minister who was present on the occasion, said reservation was an important tool to empower women and asked them to stand for their due rights.

Women should have equal rights in decision making process at each and every level, Mahajan said. "Women themselves have to stand up to realise their potential."

Medha Narivadekar, national president of 'Bhartiya Stree Shakti' suggested converting the existing constituencies into dual-member constituencies to evolve consensus over the bill.
"Every constituency should have two members including one reserved for woman," she said, adding, it will encourage the male members to accept the bill as they will not fear losing their own seats in future elections
