Bengaluru: As many as 10,427 more seats have been added to the pool of engineering seats for the 2025-26 academic year, according to the final seat matrix published by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) on Saturday.
This year, 1,51,436 seats across 245 engineering colleges will be up for grabs, while the tota seats stood at 1,41,009 last year. While 71,303 are government quota seats, 31,703 are under the COMED-K, and 5,765 are under the ‘super numerary’ quota.
The number of Computer Science engineering seats has increased by more than 4,500 this year, up from 33,753 in 2024 to 38,178. There are 20,208 seats for the Electronics and Communication branch, 8,960 Mechanical Engineering seats, and 9,108 for Information Science.
The state government has issued a No Objection Certificate to the BMS College of Engineering, which had sought permission to add 120 seats in the Computer Science branch; New Horizon College of Engineering has received the nod for adding 240 seats in the Artificial Intelligence stream and 660 more seats for Computer Science.
