Hanur: The carcass of an elephant calf was found at Ramapura wildlife range, at Malai Mahadeshwara Wildlife Sanctuary limits, in Hanur taluk, Chamarajanagar district, on Wednesday.
The Forest department personnel found the elephant calf's carcass on Wednesday while patrolling. It was at the Hunase Bylu forest area in Ramapura beat. The female elephant calf is said to be around eight to ten years old. A post mortem was conducted.
The forest department officials stated that the jumbo calf might have died around one week ago as it was found in decomposed state. It looks like it died of natural causes.
However, the exact reason for the death will be known after the post mortem report is available. The jumbo calf's carcass was cremated as per the guidelines.
