Bengaluru: In a horrific accident on Friday morning, one person was killed and five severely injured after a Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus drove into a roadside eatery near Peenya 2nd Stage.
Around 8:45 am, an electric bus (KA 51 AK 4170), operating on route 252/4, from Majestic to Peenya, lost control and veered off the road.
As per the Peenya traffic police, it was the bus conductor, Ramesh, behind the wheel, at the time of the accident. The bus had been parked near the footpath, as the driver had stepped out for a short break.
"In the interim, the conductor decided to park the bus a little further ahead, so as not to cause any traffic issues. That is when he lost control and ploughed into the eatery," police officials told DH. An FIR has been registered against the staff.
Twenty-five-year-old Suma succumbed to major injuries from the accident. Of the five injuries, two remain critical. Passengers on board only sustained minor injuries.
