Bengaluru: In a tragic accident on Friday, a college student was killed and another injured after their scooter met with an accident near Baptist Hospital on Bellary Road.
The victim, identified as Lakshmi (21), and her friend Sinchana were travelling towards their college in the morning when the accident occurred. Lakshmi, who was riding the scooter, died on the spot; the pillion rider, Sinchana, was injured and is undergoing treatment in a private hospital, police said.
Police said the accident happened at 6.30 am when a tractor hit the two-wheeler from behind. As a result, Lakshmi and Sinchana lost control and fell. Lakshmi, who was seriously injured, died on the spot. Sinchana was injured and admitted to the hospital, police added.
Police said the tractor’s speed was one of the major reasons for the accident. The driver has been arrested and the tractor has been seized. The Sanjay Nagar traffic police have registered a case under Section 106 of the BNS.
