Bengaluru: A short circuit at one of the switch boards triggered a fire at the Victoria Hospital in the wee hours of Tuesday.

The fire was reported from the seminar room in the burns block at 3 am.

According to a statement by the hospital, there were 26 patients in the affected block, and among them, 5 patients were in ICU.

“In view of the smoke and as a precautionary measure, we have shifted all the burns patients (26 patients) from this ward to H Block of Victoria Hospital,” Dr Ramesh Krishna, Dean and Director, Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute (BMCRI), said in a statement.

Fire tenders were rushed to the hospital and all the patients, attenders, and staff are safe, the hospital management said.
