Actors Kriti Kharbanda and Diganth have known each other for over 11 years but are acting together on the big screen for the first time, in ‘Minchagi Ne Baralu’.
“We’ve done a lot of ad shoots together but we have never acted in a full-fledged film so far. I thoroughly enjoyed working in the film,” Kriti says.
The movie, she feels, has done well in linking the technology of filmmaking with the subject. “We’ve taken the cinematic liberty and used technology rather effectively with fictional elements,” she adds. Kriti and Diganth play engineering students in the movie, which is largely shot in and around a college. “It’s more than just campus love. The story begins with something that we (Diganth and I) invent as a part of our college project. This turns out to be extremely successful and the rest of the movie is based around this invention,” explains Kriti. He calls the subject and the technique “new age”.
The movie has an interesting set of songs as well. “In one of the songs which is supposed to be Diganth’s imagination, I appear in three or four get-ups. There’s also Diganth’s introductory song which is entertaining,” she adds.
Kriti mentions that just because it is a science-cum-romantic movie, it is not slow-paced. “The movie slows down where it has to and gathers momentum at the right time. There’s enough time for the viewers to absorb what is happening on screen.”
Diganth, Kriti says, is one of the calmest people she has ever known. “You can never stress him out and if you ever happen to share any concern with him, he is always ready to help. He’s full of positivity,” he says.
Kriti was stranded at the Chennai airport last week and couldn’t come home nor go back to the hotel. “I stayed with a family who were willing to accommodate me for a few days. I am grateful to them,” she adds.
She drove out of there in the wee hours of Friday. She says that she happened to witness the havoc the rains left behind. “It was terrible to see people helpless and property being destroyed by a natural force,” she says. .
