Bengaluru: The Karnataka Lokayukta, which has taken up a suo motu case against officials over failure to develop Sompura Lake, has pulled up the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) and Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) for not identifying a suitable site to construct an Intermittent Sewage Pumping Station (ISPS).
In a hearing on Friday, the Lokayukta noted that the BWSSB and BDA had been directed to mark suitable land for the ISPS to prevent sewage from entering the lake, during the previous hearing on May 13.
BBMP officials were also pulled up for failing to execute the tender process called for the lake’s development. The officials were asked to expedite the process.
The Lokayukta observed that the case has been pending since 2018 and stressed the need to speed up the proceedings, directing officials to act without further delay.
