The offline format of the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) was held at two centres in the State - Mangalore and Hubli - on Sunday.
A large number of students - who still like writing exam the traditional way - opted for the offline exam, despite an option of writing it online, which is scheduled between May 7 and May 26.
“I am more comfortable and confident writing the exam this way. It is better to look at the comfort factor, as one cannot afford to mess up a national entrance exam,” said Anirudh Saraf, a student of Chinmaya College in Hubli. He has been preparing for the IIT exam for the last two years and felt that the preparation helped for AIEEE as well.
“A few chapters on polarisation are additional for AIEEE. If one is thorough with NCERT syllabus, this exam can be easily cleared,” he said. The student felt that Mathematics was easy and Chemistry was 50 per cent so. Every student with basic preparation could get through. The rest of the 50 per cent tested one’s preparation,” Saraf said.
Sreedhar Kulkarni of Chethan College in Hubli said it helps to prepare for the exam right from the high school stage. “I started preparations in class 9. It particularly helps to be quick in Mathematics.” The student hopes to make it to one of the IITs.
Prof Balasubramanya Hegde of BASE analysed that students preparing for IIT-JEE would have found it easy, but for others it would have been slightly difficult.
The next entrance exam that students will be appearing for is the COMED-K test on May 6, 2012.
