Thiruvananthapuram: Three more people were held in connection with the death of a young woman by suicide allegedly following an attempt to forceful conversion by her lover near Kochi in Kerala.

While the prime accused Rameez was held earlier, his parents and a friend were held on Monday. His parents Rahim and Sheri were reportedly held from a hideout at Salem in Tamil Nadu. Rameez's friend Sahad was later held.

The 23-year-old woman from Kothamangalam on the suburbs of Kochi was found hanging in her house on August 9. In a purported suicide note it was alleged that the woman was forced by her lover Rameez and his parents and some others to convert to Islam for getting married. She was also allegedly subjected to mental and physical torture.

BJP and Sangh Parivar outfits have unleashed a 'love jihad' campaign over the incident.
