Thiruvananthapuram: Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko made a filmy escape from a hotel in Kochi during a raid by an anti-narcotic team of the Kerala police during the late hours of Wednesday.
CCTV footage of Chacko running out of the hotel has been released. He is said to have jumped to an open area near the swimming pool on the second-floor of the hotel from the window of his room on the third-floor. From there, he ran out through the stairs.
Actress Vincy Aloshious recently alleged that an actor misbehaved with her under the influence of drugs on a film set. She was learnt to have lodged a complaint with the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists as well as the internal complaints committee of the production. Though she did not reveal the name of the actor, it was strongly believed to be Chacko, who played the lead role with her in the film Soothravakyam last year.
Aloshious later told reporters that the name of the actor and the film was revealed without her knowledge despite insisting while giving a complaint that it should not be publicised. She also said that she did not intend to file any police complaint on the matter.
The Association of Malayalam Movie Artists is also learnt to be considering action against Chacko in the wake of the allegations.
Chacko was earlier held in 2015 for possessing cocaine at a smoke party in Kochi. But he was recently acquitted by a court in Kochi citing serious procedural lapses on the part of the police.
The present action of the anti-narcotic team was learnt to be following a tip off that the actor along with some others were consuming drugs. Even as Chacko managed to escape, the police reportedly nabbed another person from the room.
The police suspect that Chacko was either using drugs or was in possession of drugs and hence he ran away. A search was learnt to be launched to find him.
