Mumbai: At least 12 persons were injured after a chawl collapsed in Mumbai's Bandra in the wee hours of Friday.

The incident took place around 5.30 am, according to the Mumbai Police and the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

The second and third floor of Chawl No 37, Bharat Nagar, Bandra Kurla Complex, near Namaj Committee Masjid, Bandra East, collapsed.

So far 12 persons have been rescued and sent to hospitals. While 10 are reportedly stable, two are critical.

Some more people are feared trapped.

A massive search and rescue operation has been mounted.
