Mumbai: In a strong message to Shiv Sena (UBT) head Uddhav Thackeray and MNS president Raj Thackeray, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that the Maha Yuti government is making efforts to bring back Marathi people to Mumbai who had moved out over the years.
“(Late Shiv Sena founder) Balasaheb Thackeray dreamed that 40 lakh homes should be provided to Marathi people. We are working to fulfill that vision. The process of building 35 lakh homes has begun. We are also working to bring back Marathi people who have moved out of Mumbai,” said Shinde, the Shiv Sena chief.
“I wasn’t born with a silver spoon, but I want to place one in everyone’s hand,” said Shinde at a 'Shashan Aaplia Daari' initiative held at Nesco Complex in Mumbai organised by Shiv Sena’s Siddharth Kadam.
“Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones at others,” he said in what was perceived as a response to allegations made by members of the UBT faction against Shiv Sena leader Ramdas Kadam and his son Minister of State for Home Yogesh Kadam during the Vidhan Sabha session.
“I know Ramdas Kadam personally, there’s nothing to worry about. Elections bring defamation tactics. Elections come and go, but those making allegations must remember -- those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. The reason they’re upset is because they’ve done nothing for the Marathi people over the years,” he said.
“The speed-breakers created by the stalling government that was in power three years ago have been removed during the Maha Yuti government’s tenure, and development projects have been given a boost,” he said during foundation stone laying ceremony for various development works in Marol, initiated by Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel.
“Our working style’s mantra is ‘no reason, on-the-spot decision’, and that’s why the stalled projects across Mumbai have been accelerated,” he said.
“Mumbai is the financial capital of the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has referred to Mumbai as a ‘growth centre’. Our government is working to speed up the pending development works. Through these projects, we are working to bring back those citizens who had left Mumbai,” added Shinde.
