The deceased Raja Raghuvanshi's family members have given their consent for the film to be made. "We gave our consent for the upcoming film on the murder case," shared Sachin, Raja's elder brother.

"We believe that if we do not bring the story of my brother's murder on the big screen, people will not be able to know who was right and who was wrong?," he further shared to reporters.

Tentatively titled Honeymoon in Shillong, the film is said to be directed by S P Nimbawat, and is in its pre-production phases, according to the IMDb website. The director is known for his film Kabaddi, which was released in the year 2018.

He informed that the script of the movie is ready, and he wanted this movie to bring to awareness the betrayal Raja faced after his marriage. "Through our film, we want to give a message to the public that such incidents of betrayal should be stopped," he mentioned.

The cast of the film is yet to be revealed. Nimbawat further informed that 80 per cent of the film's shooting will be done in Indore, while the rest 20 per cent will be taking place various parts of Meghalaya, where the incident took place.

In his talks with Hindustan Times, Nimbawat mentioned that the overall incident will be depicted factually, but the film will also include fictional elements to go hand-in-hand with the feature genre. "It’s a complete package of relationship, marriage, murder, adventure and the entire nation has followed it," he said.

Raja Raghuvanshi was murdered by his wife Sonam, while touring Meghalaya for their honeymoon. He was reportedly killed by three hitmen, and his body was found in the East Khasi Hills district. On July 24, his family visited Sohra, and held a puja at the spot where his body was found, seeking closure. The officials have arrested eight people associated with the crime, including Sonam and her lover Raj Kushwaha.
