Church Street makeover

The user shared a few pictures of the bustling street, highlighting its cosy, upscale vibe. The visuals quickly gained attention, especially as Church Street underwent a ₹9 crore makeover. The beautification project reportedly began in 2017 and was completed a year later.

Soon after the post was shared, many Bengalureans and netizens across the country joined the talk. It received hundreds of comments and reactions.

Netizens react

"Bangalore's Church Street looks amazing after the makeover! It would be incredible to see all of India shining like this. Let's make this the standard everywhere in our country," one user wrote.

Another user shared a heartfelt note about the city: "I've been here at Church Street—lovely place! Every experience in Bangalore holds a memory for me: Cubbon Park, Lalbagh Botanical Garden, MG Road, Brigade Road, Indiranagar, Ulsoor Lake... The clean air, greenery, well-maintained streets, and educated citizens. Bangalore is my favorite city in India."

As the post raised the question of whether every Indian place can become infrastructurally rich and cosy, the reactions went beyond Bengaluru, with users from across the country sharing images of similar urban spots in their cities.

"This is Apsara Road, Jammu, developed under the Jammu Smart City project," one person posted. Another showcased lush, green streets from Bhubaneswar, Odisha, showing how several Indian cities are working toward similar aesthetics.

Meanwhile, someone even pulled AI chatbot Grok into the discussion, pitching a startup idea: "@grok how can you start a sidewalk renovation company in India doing projects like this?" Grok replied, "Starting a sidewalk renovation company in India is promising but challenging... Projects like Bangalore's Church Street show what's possible."

When the post gained traction on Reddit, it triggered a similar buzz — but with a more practical concern in focus: money.

While most agreed that Church Street reflects great urban design and cosy vibes, many pointed out that such results come at a cost.

With over ₹9 crore spent on the MG Road area in Bengaluru, Reddit users questioned whether all Indian cities would receive enough funding for such projects.
