Akshaya Tritiya is celebrated with great zeal by Hindus and Jains across the country. Considered one of the most auspicious days of the year, it is a symbol of luck, success, and prosperity, making it a good time to begin new businesses, invest, or buy metals and property.
History and significance
Akshaya Tritiya takes place every year on the third day of the Shukla Paksha during Vaisakh. According to the Gregorian calendar, it falls in April and May, and it is believed that on this day, the sun and moon are in perfect planetary alignment.
Also known as 'Akha Teej', this year the auspicious day will be celebrated on April 30. It is believed that any new venture or work undertaken on this day is blessed by divine powers and will bring lasting benefits.
It is believed to be the day when the Treta Yuga, the third of the four Yugas, began. Many believe that the day is seen as an ideal occasion to bring home precious metals like gold and silver, symbolising prosperity.
