The melodrama? Well, I’ve been begun to notice the chandelier earrings of the women. These earrings (also known as shoulder- dusters) are popular accessories on the ramp, the red carpet and the silver screen.
Chandelier earrings make an elegant style statement. So, it is important to wear them with the right clothes. They come in either dual colours or in plain black, white and gold. The latter design is practical and can be worn with almost any outfit. Though colours such as fuchsia and copper-sulphate blue are appealing, you simply can’t sport them with any dress colour.
Another ‘hot’ chandelier design is the one that comes in white, red and green. Some pieces are even encrusted in kundan work. This is clearly a traditional piece of jewellery, to be worn only with a sari or a heavy lehenga. The kundan’s understated appeal can temper even the most flashy of dresses. But the one that takes the breath away is the chandelier done up in white stones. It promises just the right amount of sparkle against the skin. Look for the ones that come with cadmium-coating to avoid corrosion. These earrings look particularly stunning on monochromatic satin gowns. They are perfect with rich colours like cobalt blue, blood red and chocolate brown.
The ones studded with snazzy crystals and beads make a more casual statement. It’s best to pair them with skirts — A-line, mermaid, tulip, puffball, balloon, or even asymmetrical-edged.
If you are a fan of denims, all you need to do is pick up your favo-urite pair of denims, choose your special chandelier earrings, pull on a smart top that matches the colour of the earrings and on throw on a wrap to complete the haute look. Choose a top with small-width laces, satin-ribbons, pin-tucks or a set of vertical tiny pleats.
As far as possible, wear chandelier earrings on collar-less dresses, since the big collars could camouflage the charm of these glittering beauties.
