Stepping into the post office last week, I felt I had travelled back in time. This place looked the same as it did three decades back. The chairs with layers of dust were gleaming at the armrest due to the constant contact with the person seated. The rustic ceiling fans were more musical now. The glue from the light blue Camel jar, tied to the grill, oozing on all sides with the applicator after having lost many bristles was still happy to do the job. The queue moved slowly, and everyone followed the discipline. There was no rush, no panic, no loud voices; yet, the work went on at a smooth pace. The place exuded calmness .

Came across an interesting forward: ‘Vikram, a hotel owner, was sitting at the cash counter counting cash and clearing the delivery boys of their bills. This was his regular affair every day. But today, being a rather busy day, his head hurt a lot. He felt that the day was going from bad to worse. He desperately needed a medicine to cure it.

As all workers were busy, he couldn’t  request anyone to get it for him. In the evening, he found some time to take a short stroll to the medical shop across the road. After gulping down the medicine with some water, he sat on the bench outside the shop with his eyes closed. A little later, he felt better. Not finding the owner of the medical shop in his usual seat, he asked the young lady at the cash counter about his whereabouts. She replied, “Sir, he had a severe headache. There were too many customers. He just got free and walked over to your shop to have a cup of coffee to relieve him of his headache.”

Each of us has a unique way to find healing from pain. Similarly, each one has a different route to find peace. Some travel around the world, while some find peace within the confines of home. Peace is a fallout of how grateful and content we are with what we have. Count the little blessings
that come to us everyday in multiple  ways and watch the smile return to your face.

Health does not always come from medicine. Most of the time, it comes from peace of mind, peace in the heart and peace of soul.
