A complaint now is that many movie stars whose hearts bled when the dollar fell under Manmohan Singh are now silent. Many experts on the Modi side of the fence are spinning the current descent of the rupee differently—a weak rupee should be welcomed, they say, as it encourages us to export more.

Looks like economics is now homeopathy: less is more. And politics is irony: Raj Bhavan will be called Lok Bhavan. Not that lok (common folks) will be allowed inside; it’s just that opulence has just got a less sinful name. And no, it’s not lokma chawal yet.
