The government has come up with new labour codes, fixing working hours at a maximum of 48 hours a week. It is also offering flexibility—you can do it over six days or four days. If it’s the latter, you work 12 hours a day.

Those numbers are a relief for those who thought IT senior statesman N R Narayana Murthy’s 70 hours-a-week code was in the offing. What the rules still aren’t specifying is how much time we devote to getting AI to do our work, and how much to gossip, no?
