The content of Carbon dioxide (CO2), a gas significant for increasing the global temperature, has reached its highest in human history, said a new study.
The Mauna Loa Observatory, the world's oldest observatory, measured the content of carbon dioxide as 415.26 parts per million (ppm) in the air on May 11, 2019.
According to The Keeling Curve, it is considered to be the highest amount of carbon dioxide content in the air that was ever existed in human history.
A reading of CO2 was done in 1958 which was observed to be 313 ppm in the month of March. Now it has increased by 100 ppm approximately, which is an alarming situation in an era of climatic change and global warming.
Mauna Loa observatory is located on Hawaii's largest volcano. It is situated in the remote of Pacific islands to test the air quality and is also away from any vegetations to get more accurate results.
