Access to drinking water has a significant impact on economy, health, agriculture and other spheres of life, they said.

However, this issue has not been properly dealt with in the meetings on climate change, participants at the conference stressed.

More than 2,500 scientists, politicians and officials are participating in the meeting.
Anders Berntell, director of the Stockholm-based International Institute of Water, said climate change talks would be fruitful only when there is a real awareness on the importance of water.

Experts say one billion people have no access to drinking water in the world.
