Do pigeons spread diseases or are they misunderstood?

Of late, pigeons are being blamed for spreading dozens of serious diseases in people and pet animals. Ornithologist Dr Krishna MB, and Bengaluru's Pigeon Fanciers say that pigeons are largely misunderstood.
