If you want your skin to glow (not with sweat!) during hot days, make way for these hydrating sips to tank on when the sun begins to scowl.

Buttermilk on the go

The thin version of the thick lassi is a superb pick. This coolant is perfect on the go, with accents of freshly-crushed mint leaves and roasted jeera with rock salt. It makes up for the loss of natural fluids from your body without making you feel full on the tummy.

Mix homemade curd and water in equal proportion with the other ingredients and blitz in the mixer.

Sherbet

Try refreshing sips in homemade ginger ale, lime water, fruit juices and aam panna. The green mango fibre makes for a tangy slurp with mint accents. Bring in mint lemonade, sattu drinks and khus sherbets to keep your energy levels up.

As an option, you can also try masala milk with a bit of saffron and pounded dry fruits tossed in.

Smoothies and seasonal slices

Freshly cut strips of cucumber, juicy watermelon chunks, pineapple bits and rock melon crescents make for great hydrators, with their water content. Always cut the fruit when you want to consume it, not beforehand, and store in the refrigerator to avoid bacterial growth.

Spin mango chunks into milk with a dollop of ice cream for a smoothie mix with cooling chia seeds tossed in.

Pitcher up

Make a jug of iced tea or prepare your pour of infused water. Toss in slices of apple and a cinnamon stick, or cucumber with mint leaves, fresh lemon wedges with a couple of orange slices, or just basil. It makes you want to have refills throughout the day.
