Xiaomi earlier in the month launched the new Redmi Note 10 series, which succeeds the company's best-selling Note 9 series.

The company is offering all three variants-- Redmi Note 10, 10 Pro, and 10 Pro Max-- in India with prices ranging between Rs 11,999 and Rs 21,999.

I spent some quality time with the top-end Redmi Note 10 Pro Max and here are my initial thoughts.

Display and design
The new Redmi Note 10 Pro Max sports a 6.67-inch full HD+ (1080 × 2400p) with an AMOLED screen, 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, 20:9 aspect ratio, and support HDR10+.

The interesting thing about the device is that it is most the affordable phone to boast a 120Hz display refresh rate. It promises an immersive viewing experience while watching high-resolution videos, scrolling the web, and play graphics-rich games. It also offers a peak brightness of 1200 nits, which comes in handy to view contents in low-light conditions.

Xiaomi's phone also comes with IP52 water-splash resistant rating and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 shield.

On the back, it comes with a gorgeous shell with smooth glass with premium hand-feel. It is one of the best-looking phones you see in the market. The Vintage Bronze is the best among the lot. Even our Dark Night black color looks beautiful. There is another Glacial Blue model as well.

It has a big quad-camera module, and yet doesn't harm any visual appeal to the phone. On the right side, it features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, which doubles up as the power button. So far, it has worked fine in terms of swiftly unlocking the screen.

It also comes with triple slots (nano SIM-1 + nano SIM-2 + microSD). This is another advantage of owning the Redmi Note 10 Pro Max, as users need not have to compromise on a second SIM for extra storage or vice versa, which is the case with other rival brands in the market.

Camera
The new Redmi Note 10 Pro Max boasts feature-rich quad-camera module- main 108MP (1/1.52-inch Samsung HM2 sensor with 0.7μm pixel size)+ 8MP 120-degree ultra-wide sensor + 2MP depth + 5MP telemacro camera- with LED flash.On the front, it features a 16MP snapper.

So far, it has fared well in the bright sunlight conditions. As you can see in the photo samples, they sharp with details intact. Also, the leaf's intricate veins too, look beautiful.

We will be testing it in low-light and night conditions to fully assess the Xiaomi phone's camera capability.

Processor configuration
Xiaomi's top-end mid-range phone comes packed with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G octa-core CPU, Adreno 618 GPU, Android 11-based MIUI 12 (new v12.5 coming soon), 6GB/8GB LPDDR4X RAM with 64GB (UFS 2.1)/128GB (UFS 2.2) storage (expandable up to 512GB).

In the brief time, I have spent with the Redmi Note 10 Pro Max, it has worked smoothly without any fuss.

With a 5,000mAh battery, it is expected to offer two days under normal usage. We have to appreciate Xiaomi for offering a 33W charger in the retail box for a mid-range phone, while others are removing even the adaptor in addition to earphones.

We will be running the phone through its paces over the week and come back with a detailed review in the coming days.
