Stone X, a marble import-export company, recently partnered with artists across India to revive appreciation for both precious and architectural stones. Their private showcase, Stone Portraits, featured marbles sourced mainly from Europe, alongside “Bloom,” a marble sculpture by Bengaluru-based artist Shantamani Muddaiah.

The event engaged four senses, touch, sight, sound, and taste; to immerse attendees in the stories of each stone. Polished and raw surfaces invited tactile exploration, while spotlighting enhanced visual detail. Gentle music played in the background, and Stone X collaborated with ITC to create specially curated chocolates, each matched to a stone’s country of origin. Italy’s Lasa Covelano marble, for instance, was paired with tiramisu chocolates, while Greece’s Thassos Novelto came with feta and fig jam truffles, capturing the essence of each stone’s birthplace.

The highlight of the evening, Bloom, was inspired by Karnataka’s silk sarees and the natural beauty of Bengaluru's flora. Stone X’s CMO, Sushant Pathak, who conceptualized these showcases, plans to take them to major cities across India—hoping to inspire architects and art lovers to view marble not just as flooring, but as a medium for meaningful creation.

Beyond this showcase, Stone X now offers public access to its museum at the Stone X Experience Centre in Kishangarh, Rajasthan—a town renowned as India’s “marble city.” This museum, housed in their refurbished refinery and exhibition space, showcases sculptural works by leading contemporary artists and marble from around the world open to the public, it's perfect for anyone seeking a deeper engagement with marble
