Army Service Corps (ASC) downed a high-flying Karnataka State Police 2-0 in the BDFA Super Division League at the Bangalore Football Stadium here on Monday.

The win also fired ASC to the top of the league table with 13 points from six matches, one ahead of Hindustan Aeronautics Sports Club, who have a game in hand. KSP slumped to their first loss and remain on seven points from four matches.

ASC took the lead in the 36th minute through Prokash who unleashed a powerful volley from outside the area.

The Army outfit had the better of exchanges in the second session too. D Sudhir Kumar’s ball from the middle found Saikh inside the area and his volley hit the left post and rolled into the net in the 51st minute. The second goal took the fight out of KSP players.

Meanwhile, ASC coach N Suresh Kumar who retired from service, was felicitated by the BDFA during half-time. “I couldn’t have asked for anything more. My team won and the BDFA honoured me,” said a delighted Suresh, who is likely to remain in charge of ASC till the end of the campaign.

LRDE got the better of Bangalore Kickers 3-1 in the ‘A’ Division. Solomon Raj (8th) and Stalin (60th, 78th) netted for the winners, while Puneeth (38th) scored Kickers’ lone goal.
