There was minor scare for the West Indies-bound Indian Test squad on the final day of the six-day preparatory camp here when the team’s leading spinner suffered a bruise while batting in the ‘nets’ on Monday.

Ashwin was facing paceman Mohammad Shami whose rising ball rapped on the right-hander’s right fore-arm while attempting a pull. The off-spinning all-rounder left batting writhing in pain and was later seen talking to coach Anil Kumble while clutching his bruised part. Ashwin later had his injured arm strapped.

“It is a bruise and we will determine how he will respond in the next hour. It shouldn’t be anything serious,” said Kumble later.

Meanwhile, Kumble ruled out the possibility of using DRS during the West Indies series.
The ICC, during its full council meeting in Scotland last week, had approved changes LBW decisions through DRS where the benefit of doubt went to umpires and to which India had a major objection.
