Having spread its wings in North India since its inception in 2010, the Bhaichung Bhutia Football School launched its Bengaluru phase on Thursday.

The football school will conduct its training in three localities — Sarjapur (Harvest International School and Magnum Arena). Electronic City (SportsBase) and Marathahalli (Active Arena) for players between the age of five and 14.

These centres will also act as a platform for the football school to scout talent for its development squads, which will participate in the U-16 Youth League and U-18 I-League in the coming season.

Speaking at the launch, Bhutia said it was never a difficult decision to choose Bengaluru as the venue for his football school’s South India centre as he had felt the love for the game in the city during his playing days.

“I don’t think it was a difficult choice to make. I have been to Bengaluru many times during my playing days and back then I have seen and felt the love people have for the game. Moreover, the teams coming from the city have always boasted of good local talent. And I hope the football school too would see a good response in the coming days,” he said.
