Bikramjeet continues fine run

Unseeded players Bikramjeet Singh and Drumil Thakkar continued their fine run to reach the final of the boys’ singles category in the Jain Global Asian Junior Series under-14 tennis tournament here on Thursday.

In the semifinals, Drumil prevailed in a hard-fought battle to stun the second-seeded Rithvik Choudary B 3-6, 7-6 (2), 6-3 while Bikramjeet Singh warded off a stiff challenge from Siddharth Thakran to post a 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 victory.

In the girls’ semifinals, top seed Mahak Jain was streched into three sets before emerging winner. After losing the first set 1-6, Mahak came back strongly to bag the other two sets 6-2, 6-2.

Boys’ singles: Bikramjeet Singh Chawla bt Siddharth Thakran 6-3, 4-6, 6-7(6); Drumil Thakkar bt Rithvik Choudary B 3-6, 7-6 (2), 6-3.

Doubles: Nama Heman/ Theertha Shashank M bt Neel Garud/ Mohammed Atif Sheik 6-3, 6-2; Rithvik Choudary B/ Varun Vaiko bt Sundar Arvind/ Abhishek Shukla 6-2, 6-2.
      
Girls’ singles: Mahak Jain bt Prinkle Singh 1-6, 6-2, 6-2; Sai Dedeepya Y bt Humera Begum Shaik 7-6 (5), 6-0.
