The international boxing federation, AIBA, granted Boxing India (BI) the permanent membership during the quadrennial Congress at Jeju.

Commenting on the development, BI president Sandeep Jajodia on Friday said: “We are extremely delighted to be unanimously accepted as the permanent Member of AIBA, at the ongoing AIBA quadrennial Congress at Jeju Island, South Korea.

 “Our immediate step now would be to get recognition from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India and membership from IOA.”

Meanwhile, incumbent Dr Ching-Kuo Wu was re-elected as the AIBA president for a third consecutive term.
