Representatives from eleven States -- Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Pondicherry, Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra, Gujarat, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Chandigarh and Haryana -- were present at the AGM, during the course of which the list of events for the calender year was also announced.
Vijay Kalantri, Ajay Singh, Ravi Kanth Reddy were given the vice-presidents’ posts and R Kannan was elected the Secretary General. DR Sharma was named the Joint Secretary and Sreenivasa Rao will be the treasurer. Nagi Reddy, Ashu Gupta, Muzafar Ahmed and Kyle Campbell were named the executive committee members.
“This year has been a good one for us and we have made tremendous progress but I think the single most important turnaround came in the form of the elite group,” Chidambaram said.
There has been a strong jump in the overall averages of the men’s and women’s team in the last couple of years and Chidambaram foresees a good climb by 2014.
“We plan to do really well in the 2014 Asian Games. It’s a little too early to expect a good jump in this year’s Asian championship.”
