Heavy rains hit the areas in and around the Chinnaswamy stadium ahead of today's Indian Premier League match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings here.

Downpour started at around 6.30 pm and is still continuing.

The met department had predicted precipitation towards evening.

Bangalore will have to beat Chennai to brighten up their chance of making the play-offs. A win today will take them to 18 points but they would still not be assured of a place in next round.

For RCB to qualify, Sunrisers Hyderabad must lose their last league game (by heavy margin) against Kolkata Knight Riders tomorrow.

On April 19, 2011, the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals was abandoned without a ball being bowled because of incessant rains here, while the game between RCB and CSK was also washed out on April 25 last year.
