Shubman Gill broke Sunil Gavaskar's record of most runs scored (732 runs) by an Indian captain in a Test series, with Gill's total summing up to 754 runs.

7,000+ runs scored through the duration of the series

This Test series saw 7,000 plus runs scored by the two teams, the record second only to the 1993 Ashes Test. The total runs scored this time by the two sides was 7221. The Indian team scored 3809 runs, making them the second-highest-scoring team in a Test series after the Aussies' 3877 in the 1989 Ashes.

Bowler Jasprit Bumrah is the first Asian to pick 150 wickets in South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia — the SENA countries, surpassing Anil Kumble and Wasim Akram. He reached the milestone during the first Test in Headingley, and his 32nd Test match in the nations.

Most runs scored in the World Test Championship

Batter Joe Root reached a personal milestone by his run-tally rising up to 6000 in the World Test Championship. He has scored the most Test centuries as a home team player against India, 10, and his total centuries sum up to 39.

He scored 3 centuries in the course of the series, and his total runs amounted to 537 in series, rounding his career total in Test cricket to 13,543.

First batter to hit 700 runs in the SENA countries 

Captain Shubman Gill broke former captain Virat Kohli's record by scoring 700+ runs in the SENA countries. Kohli's record of 692 was the previous milestone for India, in the 2014-15 series in Australia.

First English captain to score a century and take 5 wickets in a Test match

Ben Stokes became the first English captain, and the fifth in Test cricket's history, to claim five wickets and record a century in the same Test match. The other players who upheld the record are Denis Atkinson and Gary Sobers of West Indies, and Pakistan's former players Mushtaq Mohammad and Imran Khan.

First Asian captain to score a double century in SENA nations

Shubman Gill gained another record-breaking title of the being the first Asian player to hit a double century in Test match played in the SENA countries. The highest before him was 193 by Tillakaratne Dilshan at Lord's in 2011.
