The first ODI against England at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune provides Kohli with a rare opportunity to equal one massive record and break another. The records are held by two of the greatest batsmen the sport has ever seen: Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting.

Kohli, known for his prolific ton-making ability, last scored a century on Nov. 23, 2019. It was against Bangladesh in the Day/Night Test at the Eden Gardens.

Kohli has a chance to equal Sachin Tendulkar's world record for the most number of hundreds by a batsman at home in ODI cricket. The 'Master Blaster' had finished his career with 20 hundreds at home in 164 matches. Kohli is second on the list with 19 in just 95 matches at home. Hashim Amla is third on the list with 14 tons in 69 matches.

And the second record that beckons? Kohli could go past former Australian captain Ricky Ponting on the list of captains with the most international hundreds.

While Ponting scored 41 centuries in 324 matches, Kohli scored the same number of centuries in just 197 matches. Graeme Smith is third on the list with 33 centuries in 286 matches. Kohli will also equal Ponting's tally of most centuries as captain (22) in ODIs.
