The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has filed a complaint to the BCCI, saying the pitch at the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) was not suitable for first-class cricket.

The Group ‘A’ Ranji Trophy game between Karnataka and Saurashtra ended in three days at the SCA in Rajkot. As many as 20 wickets fell on the third day with batsmen finding extremely difficult to combat the huge turn and odd bounce.

“The pitch was under-prepared. We had filed one complaint on the first day itself. Saurashtra didn’t have a medium pacer in their playing XI and they opened the bowling with spinners. It appears that the nature of the pitch was pre-planned. We don’t think a neutral curator was consulted. As a punishment, we want the touring team to be awarded full points,” said Sudhakar Rao, KSCA secretary.

Spinners made merry on the rank turner. For the hosts, Kamlesh Makwana and Dharmendrasinh Jadeja bagged seven and 11 wickets for the match respectively. Left-arm spinner J Suchith took ten wickets for the game for Karnataka.

Both the sides failed to cross the 100-run mark in the second innings. While Saurashtra were shot out for 79, Karnataka, chasing 179, were bowled out for 91.

Talking about the surface, Karnataka skipper R Vinay Kumar said: "This game was televised live so it was out there to be seen as to how the pitched behaved. If you ask me, I am happy we managed 91 runs on a pitch like this."
