New Zealand skipper Michael Bracewell won the toss and put India into bat in the second One-day International at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot.
India are currently leading the three-match ODI series 1-0, following their emphatic four-wicket win in the opening match at Vadodara on Sunday (January 11).
The hosts are on an eight-match winning streak against the Kiwis in ODIs.
India made one change from the playing XI with all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy coming in for the injured Washington Sundar.
The visitors also made one change to the side, which lost the opening game by four wickets at Vadoara, giving ODI debut to 31-year-old left-arm spinner Jayden Lennox in place of Adithya Ashok.
