Hello and welcome to Day 5 at the ICC ODI World Cup 2023!
Yesterday, we enjoyed a blockbuster encounter as hosts India laid down a marker against five-time World Cup champions Australia at the Chepauk Stadium.
Now it's time to recover from that pulsating encounter and turn our attention to another potentially exciting match as New Zealand look to build on their excellent start with another win against Netherlands.

What happened to both teams last time out?
New Zealand began their tournament with a dominant win as they tamed old foes England in spectacular fashion. The Kiwis restricted the Three Lions to just 282/9 before knocking off that score courtesy centuries from Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra to seal a 9 wicket win.
Netherlands on the other hand provided stiff resistance to Pakistan but were ultimately undone, losing by 81 runs. Bas de Leede was the standout performer in that game, taking 4/62 and scoring 67 off 68 balls. The Dutch though will be hoping for a better all-round show from the team this time out.

An excellent batting performance from New Zealand despite a slow start. The innings started with three back-to-back maidens but the Kiwis slowly seized control and half-centuries from Will Young (70), Rachin Ravindra (51) and Tom Latham (53) sees them post a massive total.
The Dutch will have to put on an exceptional batting performance against a talented Kiwi bowling attack to get anything out of this game.

Would have liked to be a little better. Tried to execute what my plan was and I did. At one stage, they are set to score 350 but we wanted to restrict them to 300 but they ended up getting something in the middle. Just left a few too many runs at the end. Slower ball into the wicket and at the top of the stumps, it’s a bit hard to hit. The boys got a lot of confidence in the qualifiers. New Zealand win by 99 runs!
New Zealand make it two wins out of two at the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. Netherlands meanwhile succumb to their second successive defeat.
The Dutch looked to frustrate their opponents but couldn't contain the Kiwis for too long. Half-centuries from Will Young (70), Rachin Ravindra (51) and Tom Latham (53) set the stage nicely before Mitchell Santner played a quick-scoring cameo adding 36* off just 17 balls to fire the Kiwis to 322/7.
Santner (5/59) then grabbed a fifer with the ball as Netherlands ultimately fell short of 99 runs despite a fighting half-century from Colin Ackermann (69).

(On his performance) Not too bad, credit to the boys upfront with the bat, they gave us a nice platform. There was a bit of a hole in the middle but we did well to get past 320. Scott Edwards is looking for more from his batting attack
We were pretty good in the first 40 overs. They got away from us in the last 3 overs which pushed the score a little bit further than we were hoping. If we could hold them to 280-300 mark, the wicket gets a little better at night. NZ are a disciplined bowling attack, they are not going to make it easy for you. You are not going to chase down 321 with 40s, 50s and 60s. We will speak about that with the boys. Come the next few games, we have to put on bigger partnerships and bigger scores. We would have bowled. We did a great job with the bat. We managed to build partnerships. Put a great score on the board and the bowlers did a fantastic job. Partnership after partnership allowed us to go into the death a little bit earlier. I tried to be proactive with the changes. The spinners were outstanding. Mitch got the rewards. The boys did a good job upfront. Great to see him (Lockie) back. Every ground you go to, it's about adapting.
