Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is likely to sit out of the final Test against Australia in Sydney, reports claimed on Thursday.
India take on Australia in the fifth and the final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at Sydney Cricket Ground from from Friday (January 3).
If Rohit is not at the helm, then his deputy Jasprit Bumrah is likely to take on the role of the captain.
It was under Bumrah's captaincy that India won its only Test on the tour so far -- the lung-opener in Perth.
Rohit has been in poor form in the BGT series, where Australia are up 2-1.
Rohit, just like in Melbourne, was last among recognised batters to enter the nets, but this was after head coach Gautam Gambhir refused to confirm whether the out-of-form skipper will be at the toss on Friday morning.
If he is dropped, Rohit will become the first Indian captain to be axed on account of poor form and he would have none to blame except for the abysmal return of 31 runs from five innings.
