There, however, was very little time to soak in the 317-run win.
The matter at hand is that there is a lot more at stake for both sides than the Anthony de Mello trophy. A clash against top-ranked New Zealand awaits the victor of this series in the World Test Championship at Lord's this June. But is a series victory enough for both sides to reach the final?

Virat Kohli's side would at least need a 2-1 series win (win and draw in the next two Tests) to reach the WTC final, while a 3-1 victory (two wins in the next two Tests) will also make do.
England, however, will have to win the remaining two Tests and clinch a 3-1 series win to reach the final.
