Fresh off a hard-earned and long-awaited Indian Premier League (IPL) title, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)'s star batter Virat Kohli was seen entering the team dressing room triumphantly.
Walking alongside RCB teammate A B DeVilliers, a smiling Kohli was heard saying "no more" to what was being referred to as a heartbreak corner in the dressing room.
As Kohli walked in, he wasted no time in congratulating RCB captain Rajat Patidar: "Injury replacement to IPL-winning captain...bloody hell," Kohli was heard saying on camera.
Kohli also praised the captain for leading from the front, making relevant tactical changes, and inspiring the team with his calmness under pressure.
"He's got this really balanced personality which really helps him stay calm under pressure," the 36-year-old said.
Despite the glowing smile on the RCB batter's face, Kohli seemed unable to fully grasp the magnitude of the team's accomplishment, and admitted to the same.
Speaking in a video shared by RCB, Kohli said, "It's very difficult to explain, man. I think I'm going to feel the real side of it once we go back to Bangalore tomorrow and celebrate it with the city and the fans who stuck with us through thick and thin."
"I'm just relieved," the ace batter added.
Commenting on the triumphant RCB team, Kohli heaped praise on his teammates.
"[The team has] a full bunch of matchwinners ... people stepping up at different stages and putting their hand up to get the job done for the team and just have that hunger and that quiet confidence in them. They just come and do the job," Kohli said.
"These guys are [of] a different mentality," the 36-year-old further said, adding, "
Speaking about Bengaluru natives in RCB, Kohli said, "You can see that they wear that bade with pride ... that thing can never go away from a Bangalore boy."
Kohli's words were reciprocated by his teammmates, and Mayank Agarwal stepped into the frame to say, "Sorry to cut you off ... you playing for Bangalore for 18 years, I can tell you one thing: you're as much a Bangalore boy as anyone else."
"I'm sure you have an idea ... tomorrow, and in the coming days, you will experience it—the love this city has for you," Agarwal added.
"I'm just happy I could do it with RCB," Kohli concluded.
With the RCB team back in Bengaluru, grand celebrations have been planned to celebrate their achievement.
