Canara Bank and State Bank of Mysore, two teams from Karnataka in the fray in the BCCI Corporate Trophy, went through a contrasting day on Saturday.
While Canara Bank recorded a facile 61-run win over defending champions State Bank of Hyderabad at Indore, SBM suffered an eight-wicket defeat to Indian Oil at Nagpur. This was SBM’s second straight loss after their 125-run defeat to India Cements.
KL Rahul (146, 119b, 16x4, 3x6) and Deepak Chougule (78, 85b, 9x4) were the chief contributors to Canara Bank’s imposing 330 for six in 50 overs. Despite two half-centuries by Hyderabad Ranji players B Sumanth (54) and Anoop Pai (95), SBH could muster only 261 before getting bundled out in the 48th over. Pacers NC Aiyappa (3-51) and Rajoo Bhatkal (3-40) were the pick of bowlers.
