The organisation has been in existence for the last two years but from here on, it aims to promote sport in a more active way  with the stress being on athletics, according to Pramila Aiyappa, Fusion Athletica’s secretary.

“We want to conduct more events besides spotting and grooming talent, especially in rural areas of the State,” said Pramila, the bronze medallist in heptathlon at last year’s Asian Games in Guangzhou.

Fusion Athletica recently organised a tennis event for juniors but their first foray into athletics will be on May 21, when they conduct the World Athletics Day meet at the Sree Kanteerava stadium.

“We will also be promoting other sports like tennis and basketball but the main aim will be to give a boost to athletics,” said Pramila.

Speaking on the occasion, leading businessman P Dayananda Pai, the president of the organisation, affirmed his commitment to promote sport. “No effort will be spared to encourage talented sportspersons,” he said.

Pramila’s team includes her husband and coach B Aiyappa, former sprinters Ajith Kumar and R Kishan, former decathlete Ananthapadmanabha, former athletes Narsimha Murthy, former nationally ranked tennis player Kiran Nandakumar and TV journalist K Manjula.
