While Puri had to put his best foot forward to subdue a battling R Samartha in the final, Aishwwarya had no such problems, brushing aside Medini R Bhat in straight games.
Samartha took an early grip on proceedings by easily pocketing the first game, then opened up a 2-1 lead to put himself within one game of the crown when Puri launched his comeback, winning a hard-fought fourth game and running away with the fifth to complete a 3-11, 11-5, 6-11, 11-8, 11-3 triumph.
Aishwwarya, by contrast, had things all her own way as she crushed Medini 11-5, 11-5, 11-6 in a one-sided final.
