Hockey Olympian Udita Duhan and Olympic Games bronze medallist Mandeep Singh tied the knot on March 21 in Punjab's Jalandhar, marking the union of yet another sports couple in the region.

Duhan was part of India’s women’s hockey team that finished fourth at the Tokyo Olympics, while Singh was part of India’s back-to-back bronze medal-winning squads at the Olympic Games.

Announcing their union, Hockey India extended its heartfelt congratulations to its star players. "Mandeep Singh and Udita Duhan, who are celebrating their wedding today. “The couple, both of whom have showcased exemplary dedication and talent in their respective fields, have been role models for aspiring athletes across the country. Hockey India wishes the newlyweds a lifetime of happiness and success in their personal and professional journeys," the governing body said in a statement.

Last year, Udita was acquired by Shrachi Rarh Bengal Tigers for Rs 32 lakh at the Hockey India League auctions, becoming the costliest buy in the women's auction. She has also played 127 games for India. The star India defender is versatile player, venturing forward in attack and is involved in penalty corner situations too.

Meanwhile, Mandeep Singh plays as a forward for India men's national field hockey team and the Delhi Waveriders in the Hockey India League. He has played 260 times for the senior men’s team, scoring 120 goals.
